Better than the original in my Whirlpool fridge. This one only lasts 6 months or 200 gallons, but sports an increased flow rate if I remember correctly. The size of the hole at the top was enlarged to handle more flow. A few suggestions: 1) I like to put some water in it prior to installing. Just a personal preference. 2) After installing, push a gallon of water through the filter to get rid of the initial taste. I usually push these past their expected lifetime. The water in my area isn't too hard so the filters can last longer depending upon your circumstances. When I taste a slightly odd flavor in the water I swap it with a new one.
